OCR: Getting Started with the Atlas of Florida The Atlas of Florida CD ROM is designed to be used just like the original hard copy atlas. The added advantage of providing the atlas data on a CD ROM is the great capacity to add more data and visuals. When using the atlas for the first time, you may want to review the following information which will help you identify the symbols and buttons that let you access different types of data. When you move your mouse around the screen you will notice that the cursor turns into a hand (h) as it passes certain images. This means that there is an active button under that image and it can be selected by clicking your mouse button once on that image. On the following page you will find a set of sample icons that are used to help you identify buttons, although some buttons do not have a specific icon so remember to watch for the hand! Bold and underlined text indicates a definition is available. Click the term to view the definition. For teachers we have added a set of lesson plans and outline maps that can be printed for use with the atlas. You will find the lesson plans at the end of this Getting Started section. To print the lesson plans or any open text field press the Command (9) and P keys together. To print the blackline maps, follow the instructions located on the lesson plan page. The best way to learn is to explore, so let your exploration begin.
